LGBTQ+ Health

Interested in LBGTQ+ Health? Come to this workshop to learn from both a doctor and a health educator who are highly experienced in the field. They will share their successes addressing health disparities amongst the LGBTQ+ community as well as opportunities for improvement to better ensure inclusivity for all identites.

 

Dr. Evie Kalmar
Evie Kalmar MD is a fellow in geriatrics and palliative care at UCSF. She trained at UCSF for Primary Care Internal Medicine, and was a student in the UC Berkeley - UCSF Joint Medical Program. Before starting fellowship, she worked as a doctor doing housecalls for Medical-Medicare patients in San Mateo County. While at UC Berkeley, she was active in the Berkeley Student Cooperative, the UC Berkeley Gospel Choir, the Suitcase Clinic, and the Pacific Center.

Dr. Patty Robertson

Patricia Robertson MD is a professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco. She co-directs the UCSF/Kaiser Research Internship which accepts 16 UC Berkeley pre-med students each summer who are under-represented in medicine, to do a research project with a UCSF faculty member, experience clinical shadowing, and participate in leadership training. She has been an activist for health equity for lesbian, bisexual and all women during her long career. She is a a maternal-fetal medicines specialist, who provides obstetric care to women who have high risk pregnancies. She is the co-author of the book, Lesbian Health 101.

Meckell Milburn (Health Educator)

Meckell Milburn, MA (she/her) is a Health Educator at UC Berkeley and founder of Revolution of the People, an organization that supports people in reconnecting with their own inner wisdom to gain more balance in life. meckell received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Xavier University of Louisiana and her master's degree in Integrative Health from California Institute of Integral Studies. meckell has a passion for supporting people in becoming healthier versions of themselves in ways that center their needs and individual experiences, with a deep commitment to supporting communities of color, particularly queer & trans communities of color. Her philosophy is that the whole person (mind, body, spirit) must be considered in order to reach optimal wellness. She has a special clinical interest in movement practices for healing, eating habits, mindfulness and meditative practices, and spirituality.
