MIH Coalition

Meet the students behind this event! These student coordinators are representatives from different health organizations at UC Berkeley collaborating to put on MIH.

Brianna Roque

Brianna is a third year studying Integrative Biology at UC Berkeley and aspires to be a physician in the future. She is currently the External Affairs Coordinator of PAHC and is passionate about sharing health-related opportunities with underrepresented students. She loves volunteering at health screenings in the bay area and enjoys spending time with friends and family, home-cooking, and playing volleyball in her free time.

Sofia Santos

Sofia Santos is a fourth year majoring in Molecular and Cell Biology and minoring in Education. She was born in Guatemala, but grew up in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles. Sofia aspires to become a pediatrician and hopes to treat patients by also emphasizing a public health approach. This year Sofia is serving as one of the co-networking officers for CHE alongside Natalie Aceves.

Alondra Peregrino

 

 

 

Alondra is a second year majoring in Public Health and minoring in Public Policy. She was born and raised in the Bay Area. Alondra currently serves as one of two Public Relations coordinators for CHE alongside Justin Uribe. She hopes to work as a cardiologist in the future and create clinics and other spaces to serve the needs of underserved populations one-on-one. Alondra also hopes to earn an MPH focusing in Health Policy and Management to aid underserved populations at a much larger scale. During her free time, Alondra likes to destress by playing piano and spending time with her loved ones.

Lia Bizuneh

 

 

 

Lia is a third year majoring in Public Health at UC Berkeley. She was born and raised in the South Bay. Lia is currently the external affairs liasion for the Black Students in Health Association. She aspires to become a physician one day, serving neglected populations and building healthier communities. Lia enjoys spending time with family and friends, painting, and enjoying the sunshine when possible.

Rachel Ablir

 

 

 

 

 

Rachel is a third year studying Public Health at UC Berkeley and is currently the Secretary of PAHC. She aspires to become a physician and address health inequities in the underserved communities one day. During her free time, she loves to spend time with her family and friends, travel, do yoga and do outdoor activities.

Justin Uribe

Justin is a third year from Pico Rivera, CA (East LA area). He's studying Public Health with a CalTeach minor in Science and Math Education. Justin currently serves as one of CHE's two Public Relations officers alongside Alondra Peregrino. He is currently leaning towards becoming an educator working in schools within Latinx communities, similar to where he grew up, to address health disparities. During his free time, he enjoys music, cooking, and taking naps.

 

 

 

Natalie Aceves

Natalie is a fourth year majoring in Integrative Biology [Track 2: Human Biology]. She grew up in Gardena and Torrance in Southern California. She is currently one of the CHE's Co-Networking officers alongside Sofia Santos. In the future, she hopes to work as a pediatric endocrinologist while also working on Type 1 Diabetes research. During her free time, Natalie like to paint, run, surf, and hang out at the beach. 

 

 

 

Thanh Thanh Thai

 

 

 

 

 

 

Thanh is a third year majoring in Molecular Environmental Biology. Currently she is interested in integrating graphic designing and medicine together. She is serving as the treasurer and Minorities In Health liaison for AAPIHRG. When Thanh is not sleeping, then she is chugging down coffee and speeding through life.

Kiersten Rose Reyes

 

 

 

 

Kiersten Rose Reyes is a third year majoring in Integrative Biology and minoring in English. She was born in Japan, spent most of her life in Hawaii, but currently resides in San Diego, CA. Kiersten is part of the AAPIHRG cohort as a researcher, facilitator, and is one of the two Publicity Chairs. She enjoys volunteering on campus and within the community and is currently interested mental health and health disparities amongst minorities, specifically the Asian American population. Her hobbies include spending time with friends and family, tennis, swimming, music, and she also takes care of her cat (Kai) with her roommates.

Ashley Lucckesi

Ashley Lucckesi is a 5th year studying Molecular and Cell Biology and Public Health, and minoring in Disability Studies. She is planning attend a Masters in Public Health program next semester, and eventually attend medical school. She aspires to apply public health knowledge to the field of medicine to pursue her interest in preventative health care. This year she is serving as Co-President of Cal UPHC. Fun fact: she has a 2 year old cat!

 

 

 

Erica Munson

 

Erica is a senior majoring in Public Health and minoring in Public Policy. Within UPHC, she has held the positions of International Health Committee Chair, Development Officer, and, now, Co-President. Currently, she is also conducting qualitative research on girl's education and empowerment through Berkeley's URAP and is an intern at Ibis Reproductive Health in Oakland. She loves traveling, being outdoors, and going to concerts in the bay area.

 

 

 

Heather Zhang

 

 

 

 

 

 

Heather is a third year studying Public Health and Economics at UC Berkeley. She is currently the External Vice President of Cal UPHC, and has been involved with this organization for the past three years. Currently, she works with the Office of Environment, Health, & Safety to assist labs with organizing their chemical data usage. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, watching movies, and chilling with her gecko.
